The cast for 2020’s Godzilla vs. Kong is really starting to take shape! According to Deadline, Emmy Award-winning actor Alexander Skarsgård has just signed on to star opposite Stranger Things’ Millie Bobby Brown in the next chapter of the buzzworthy franchise.
In a huge cinematic crossover event, Godzilla vs. Kong will find the Gigantic Kong meeting the unstoppable Godzilla as the world watches to see which one becomes the king of all monsters. Skarsgård joins a cast that already consists of Brown, Friday Night Lights’ Kyle Chandler, Deadpool 2’s Julian Dennison, Brian Tyree Henry, and Ziyi Zhang. The Walking Dead and Black Panther’s Danai Gurira is also rumored to star as well.
Godzilla vs. Kong will be the fourth installment in the Godzilla franchise following behind Godzilla (2014), Kong: Skull Island (2017), and 2019’s Godzilla: King of the Monsters. While not expected to release until May of 2020, Godzilla vs. Kong will be directed by Death Note’s Adam Wingard.
Skarsgård is fresh off his Emmy-winning role on HBO’s Big Little Lies. While it’s unsure whether or not he will be returning in any capacity for the highly-anticipated second season, he did hint on The Tonight Show that he was on set earlier this year.
He’s also gearing up for his next small-screen venture in AMC’s The Little Drummer Girl, which is a six-part adaption of John le Carré’s novel that follows a“brilliant young actress named Charlie (Florence Pugh) who strikes up an acquaintance with an intriguing stranger named Becker (Skarsgård) while on holiday in Greece, but it rapidly becomes apparent that his intentions are far from romantic. The series has been described as a suspenseful and explosive story of espionage and high-stakes international intrigue.
