Chris Evans Says He’s “Neither Confirming Nor Denying Anything” With His ‘Avengers 4’ Wrap Tweet
Earlier this month Marvel star Chris Evans set the internet on fire with one cryptic tweet.
Evans tweet seemingly announced his departure from the role of Captain America – a role which he has played for eight years. The tweet reads, “Officially wrapped on Avengers 4. It was an emotional day, to say the least. Playing this role over the last 8 years has been an honor. To everyone in front of the camera, behind the camera, and in the audience, thank you for the memories! Eternally grateful.”

It’s easy to see why Marvel fans would freak out over Evans’ choice of wording. It’s a statement which clearly seems like the closing of one chapter and the overarching tone can be interpreted with an overwhelming sense of finality. Fans have long been speculating the fate of the beloved Captain America in the upcoming Avengers 4 film, and many felt Evans’ tweet was a massive spoiler for the upcoming film.
Evans took some time during his panel at ACE Comic Con this past weekend to clear the air regarding his tweet. During the panel, Evans explained:
Fans can rest assured that Evans did not reveal any spoilers with his emotional wrap tweet. The fate of Captain American in the Marvel Cinematic Universe still remains an unknown and we hope that Chris Evans continues in the role for many films to come!
