STARZ released the trailer for the second season of American Gods at New York Comic Con. Cast members, along with author and Executive Producer, Neil Gaiman were in attendance for their first official NYCC panel, and it was truly epic. As a bonus, Patton Oswald moderated for the hour. The gods and humans in attendance included: Crispin Glover (Mr. World), Ricky Whittle (Shadow Moon), Bruce Langley (Technical Boy), Emily Browning (Laura Moon), Mousa Kraish (The Jinn), Pablo Schreiber (Mad Sweeney), Omid Abtahi (Salim), Yetide Baki (Bilquis), Demore Barnes (Mr. Ibis), and Orlando Jones (Mr. Nancy).
Whittle got the crowd roaring as he ran in through the back of the hall and headed up to the stage. When he wasn’t distracting the young ladies with his unbuttoned shirt, he was giving audiences a masterclass lesson on working with a green screen and drawing tons of laughter from the fans. While Langley enthralled the crowd as he recited an intense monologue at lightning speed to which Kraish quipped that the actor is a lot like his character – intelligent and intense. The hour was met with a lot of laughs and great moments as the panel guests interacted with their fans.
The trailer for season 2 aired during the panel and it looks amazing! The clip showed Shadow Moon back with Mr. Wednesday alongside Mad Sweeney and his ex, Laura as they appear to be traveling cross country. The war between the Old and New Gods is gaining momentum as everyone chooses a side. We even get a glimpse of Odin! As Shadow learns more about the history of the Gods and how things have come to be, Mad Sweeney informs him that,
“You’re in the fairytale now, aren’t you?”
Speaking of Mad Sweeney, did anyone catch a tender moment between him and Laura? Could there be something brewing there in the new season?
Check out the trailer below. Are you excited about the new season?
