‘Riverdale’ Recap “Chapter 36: Labor Day”

It’s junior year and everyone is looking forward to the start of school. Archie is on trial for the murder of Cassidy Bullock. The court is to reconvene after Labor Day to hear the jury’s verdict. For now, Archie is free.

Since Hal’s arrest, Alice and Polly have been listening to a guy named Edgar from the Farm and they are trying to pull Betty in with them. This guy seems to be brainwashing them. Betty is coping by forging Adderall prescriptions and pretending to see a psychiatrist. Betty considers seeing a therapist for real and stopping Adderall, but that’s it.

Cheryl is truly embracing Serpent life with Toni as well as her “Bombshell” attitude. She’s having a party at Thornhill and is in the mood for some hell raising. Everyone is at the party and having a good time despite Archie’s looming sentence. At the party, Archie has begun to say his goodbyes, Veronica is the only one not listening to them. She will do anything to save her man. She even gets caught trying to tamper with the jury.

Jughead gets word that the Ghoulies have kidnapped HotDog. Jughead succeeds in saving him but fails to keep the Ghoulies out of the Northside. Jughead, you should know by now that trying to barter with Penny will get you worse off than you were.

The jury is deadlocked 6-6 and is dismissed. Archie accepts the plea deal without listening to his mother/attorney and is sent to the juvenile detention facility to serve out his sentence. Fred, FP, and Sheriff Keller band together to prove Hiram guilty. Dads unite!

Is everyone a Serpent now? It seems like the group has gained a lot more members since the break. Who is the Gargoyle King and why is he killing people? We just got rid of the Black Hood! The Farm sounds like a cult. Wait, the babies are floating? What? I have so many questions! Will Hiram ever pay for anything he’s done? This season promises more mystery and thrill and it is already delivering. See you next week.
