“Why are you calling me Madam?”
With just under a week left until the groundbreaking season 11 premiere of Doctor Who, the series has released the first look at new Doctor Jodie Whittaker’s titular character. In the short but brilliant clip below, Whittaker’s newly regenerated Doctor is trying to figure things out and her curiosity is particularly piqued when she realizes her soon-to-be new companions are calling her madam.

The premiere episode is titled The Woman Who Fell to Earth, and takes places in a South Yorkshire city, as Ryan Sinclair (Tosin Cole), Yasmin Khan (Mandip Gill) and Graham O’Brien (Bradley Wash) are about to have their lives changed. When a mysterious woman, unable to remember her own name, falls from the night sky, can they believe a word she says? And can she help solve the strange events taking place across the city?
The 11th season of Doctor Who will officially premiere on BBC America timed with the UK premiere broadcast on Sunday, October 7th at 1:45 pm ET/PT. At the very same time, fans gathered at New York City’s iconic Madison Square Garden will simultaneously screen the premiere prior to New York Comic Con’s (NYCC) Q&A panel with Whittaker, showrunner Chris Chibnall and executive producer Matt Stevens.
That same evening, BBC America will air a special encore of the premiere at 8 pm EST/PST, which will be the show’s new timeslot for the remainder of the season. The encore presentation will include bonus interviews with Whittaker and footage taken from NYCC earlier that day.
