Next weekend, Jodie Whittaker will take the stage at New York Comic Con (NYCC) immediately following the massive global premiere of the upcoming brand new season of Doctor Who.

It had been previously announced that the premiere would take place on October 7th, however, it wasn’t until this Thursday that the official time and details of the premiere were announced. The 11th season of Doctor Who will officially premiere on BBC America timed with the UK premiere broadcast on Sunday, October 7th at 1:45 pm ET/PT. At the very same time, fans gathered at New York City’s iconic Madison Square Garden will simultaneously screen the premiere followed by a Q&A panel with Whittaker, showrunner Chris Chibnall and executive producer Matt Stevens.

That same evening, BBC America will air a special encore of the premiere at 8 pm EST/PST, which will be the show’s new timeslot for the remainder of the season. The encore presentation will include bonus interviews with Whittaker and footage taken from NYCC earlier that day.

The premiere episode is titled The Woman Who Fell to Earth, and takes places in a South Yorkshire city, as Ryan Sinclair (Tosin Cole), Yasmin Khan (Mandip Gill) and Graham O’Brien (Bradley Wash) are about to have their lives changed. When a mysterious woman, unable to remember her own name, falls from the night sky, can they believe a word she says? And can she help solve the strange events taking place across the city?

Building up to the season 11 premiere, BBC America is hosting a marathon of all Doctor Who‘s modern era episodes over the course of a massive 13-day marathon to honor the new 13th Doctor. The 13 Days of Doctor Who and kicked off on Tuesday, September 25th and will culminate with the global premiere of the 11th season on October 7th.  Fans can travel back in time and revisit all 10 seasons of rebooted series with all their favorites including former Doctors Christopher Eccleston, David Tennant, Matt Smith, and Peter Capaldi before watching Whittaker officially take over the keys to the Tardis.

Though Whittaker’s casting has drawn controversy, her predecessor, Capaldi, fully supports the change. During New York Comic Con in October 2017, he praised Whittaker’s work on the series so far by saying, “She’s amazing.  I’ve seen what she’s done, and you’re in good hands.”

We can’t wait to see what amazing adventures the new Doctor will encounter! Jodie Whittaker makes her official debut on Sunday, October 7th on BBC.
