Sophie Turner is Jean Grey in new Trailer for ‘X-Men: Dark Phoenix’

Marvel

Sophie Turner is bringing Jean Grey to life in the brand new trailer for X-Men: Dark Phoenix!

Turner, who entered the scene through her role of Sansa Stark on Game of Thrones, is taking her talents (and red hair) to the Marvel Universe. Jean Grey, also known as Phoenix is a mutant with the skill of telekinesis. She is struck by an unknown cosmic force during a space rescue, and then turns dark.

In the trailer, the X-Men are back and seemingly better than ever. It opens with a young Jean asking James McAvoy’s Professor X if she can be fixed.

He responds,

“Jean, you are not broken.” And he later adds, “The mind is a fragile thing. It takes only the slightest tap to tip it in the wrong direction.”

Here is the official synopsis:

In DARK PHOENIX, the X-MEN face their most formidable and powerful foe: one of their own, Jean Grey. During a rescue mission in space, Jean is nearly killed when she is hit by a mysterious cosmic force. Once she returns home, this force not only makes her infinitely more powerful, but far more unstable. Wrestling with this entity inside her, Jean unleashes her powers in ways she can neither comprehend nor contain. With Jean spiraling out of control, and hurting the ones she loves most, she begins to unravel the very fabric that holds the X-Men together. Now, with this family falling apart, they must find a way to unite — not only to save Jean’s soul, but to save our very planet from aliens who wish to weaponize this force and rule the galaxy.

Dark Phoenix will hit theaters on February 1st, 2019.

It is directed and written by Simon Kinberg, and stars James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Sophie Turner, Tye Sheridan, Alexandra Shipp, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Evan Peters, and Jessica Chastain.
