Alexander Skarsgård Hints at a ‘Big Little Lies’ Season 2 Return

Season 2 of Big Little Lies is quickly approaching and while the buzz surrounding Meryl Streep’s addition to the cast is quite exciting, fans have been left wondering if Alexander Skarsgård will be making any sort of return. Sure, the season one finale found his character, Perry Wright, dying at the hands of the ladies of Monterey, but with Streep stepping on to the scene as his mother, Mary Louise Wright, a woman looking for answers, the chance of him coming back in flashbacks or visions isn’t too far off. Plus, Skarsgård did win an Emmy for his performance after all and we’d love to see more of him.

While appearing on The Tonight Show, host Jimmy Fallon prodded Skarsgård just a bit about the recent rumors that he had been hanging around on set.

[row]“I don’t want to get in trouble. I was on set, yes, but I can’t disclose what I did on set. Maybe I was acting. I might’ve been just moral support, might’ve made coffee for the ladies, might’ve helped Meryl Streep with her acting.”[/row]

Hmmmm…seems very suspicious to us. As difficult as Perry and Celeste’s (Nicole Kidman) relationship was to watch, we have to admit that having Skarsgård return in some capacity would surely add a lot more tension to Celeste’s story.

While season 1 of the Emmy Award-winning series made its way through Liane Moriarty’s original source material, season 2 will feature an all-new story by the author with the seven episodes written by David E. Kelly. HBO says it “will explore the malignancy of lies, the durability of friendships, the fragility of marriage and, of course, the vicious ferocity of sound parenting. Relationships will fray, loyalties will erode … the potential for emotional and bodily injury shall loom.”

Reese Witherspoon, Nicole Kidman, Shailene Woodley, Laura Dern, and Zoe Kravitz are all returning for the second season, which is set to premiere sometime in 2019.  You can watch the full clip from The Tonight Show below!
