When 17 Bridges was first announced fans were excited to see a big-screen reunion between Chadwick Boseman (Black Panther) and The Russo Brothers (Infinity War). Now, three new cast members have been announced that are sure to put the action-thriller at the top of “want to see” lists. J.K. Simmons, Sienna Miller, and Taylor Kitsch have all signed on to join Boseman and the Russo’s, who will be producing under their new company Agbo.
According to Variety, 17 Bridges follows Boseman as a “disgraced NYPD detective who, after being thrust into a citywide manhunt for a cop killer, is given a shot at redemption. As the night unfolds, lines become blurred on who he is pursuing, and who is in pursuit of him. When the search intensifies, extreme measures are taken to prevent the killers from escaping Manhattan as the authorities close all 17 bridges to prevent any entry or exit from the iconic island.”
Joining the Russo’s as producers are Boseman’s partners Logan Coles and Mike Larocca and MWM Studios. Brian Kirk (Game of Thrones, Luther) will direct a script written by Adam Mervis with production beginning in September. The film helms from STX Films (Molly’s Game).
Simmons won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor in 2015 for his turn in Whiplash. Since his win, he has appeared in films such as Patriots Day, Justice League, Father Figures, The Snowman, and The Front Runner. He also appears in Starz’s original series Counterpart. Kitsch is best known for his role as Tim Riggins in Friday Night Lights but recently gave a stellar performance on the six-part miniseries Waco. Sienna Miller recently starred in The Catcher Was a Spy with Paul Rudd and American Women.
17 Bridges marks the 4th collaboration for Boseman and the Russo’s who all worked together on Captain America: Civil War, Infinity War and the upcoming Avengers 4.
