‘Young Sheldon’ Recap “A High-pitched Buzz And Training Wheels”

Sheldon has been known to be sensitive, maybe a little too sensitive. He hears a buzz and it’s driving him crazy, so in turn, he drives his family crazy over trying to find it. He believes it is coming from the refrigerator.

At school, he begins to ask Tam about how to survive a psychological torture but opts for a refrigerator repair book instead. Sheldon takes apart the fridge and succeeds in finding the part that was buzzing. He can’t put the fridge back together, though. George scolds him for it saying he’ll pay them back every cent for the repair. Sheldon cries and Missy comforts him.

Sheldon gets a paper route to earn money for the fridge. He takes his time and folds the papers perfectly but freaks out because he has ink on his hands. He succeeds in delivering the papers on Monday, but the rest of the week goes downhill. He fights off a dog, a bird, a storm and the Sunday double stack. Not to mention he was late every day due to his need to perfect the trifold.

Sheldon collects the payments and is disappointed when he isn’t tipped much. He’s also late to class and develops an attitude because he’s exhausted. George sits him down and explains that everyone has long days, but that’s no excuse to take it out on those around you. Sheldon understands and apologizes. He continues the job and six months later he is able to pay his father back.

This episode was cute. I loved the father-son dynamic in the episode. Sheldon had some really sweet things to say about his father and how his father’s wisdom has shaped him into the man he is today. Missy and Georgie are as funny as ever. This episode was a great introduction to season 2. What will Sheldon get into next?
