‘Game of Thrones’ Writer Bryan Cogman Strikes Deal With Amazon Studios

HBO

One of the key writers on Game of Thrones is taking his talents to Amazon as the studio continues to bring on experience talent for their upcoming projects. Cogman is one of the newest additions, and with his signing on, he will bring new TV projects to life to eventually put in front of a global audience.

The co-head of television at Amazon Studios had this to say to THR of the addition,

“We’re proud to be in business with Bryan, who has written some of the most memorable and exhilarating television in recent history. His storytelling prowess is undeniable, and we cannot wait to introduce his voice to our Prime Video audience.”

Emmy Award winner Bryan Cogman has been a major part of the Game of Thrones team. He started as an assistant to David Beinoff and D.B. Weiss, before he was promoted to co-producer and scriptwriter of many of the show’s memorable episodes. Currently, he is working on various projects. For example, he wrote Disney’s upcoming film: The Sword in the Stone remake, as well as The Haunted Mansion.

“I couldn’t be more thrilled and honored to start the next phase of my career with Amazon. I’m grateful for the opportunity and excited to start writing.” Cogman said in a statement.

Although there is no mention about his duties as a writer of the five Game of Thrones prequels for HBO, the scripts for the Game of Thrones final season are complete. He joins a list of producers, including Nicole Kidman, Jordan Peele, Robert Kirkman (The Walking Dead), Amy Sherman-Palladino (Marvelous Mrs. Maisel), Jill Soloway (Transparent) and many others.

Amazon Studios is currently in the midst of wrangling on screen talent for their projects as well. So far, they’ve signed both Shona Rhimes and Ryan Murphy exclusively to 9-figure deals.
