‘American Horror Story’: The Apocalypse Arrives Tonight

The apocalypse will be upon us. No, not the “actual” apocalypse. Instead, the apocalypse as seen in the creative mind of writer and producer Ryan Murphy. Today is the day when the world will get to witness American Horror Story: Apocalypse season 8 premier. Are you shook? Because I am totally shook!

Every year fans of American Horror Story are guessing if this will be the season that will show an outright crossover between previous seasons. Fans were treated to a confirmation tweet from Ryan Murphy on June 14th that this season will cross both season 1 (Murder House) and season 3 (Coven). That left fans wondering, what would the story be about?

Each summer, American Horror Story creator Ryan Murphy uses his beautifully warped mind to start teasing viewers as to what the central theme of the new season of American Horror Story will be. This year, he did not disappoint. Viewers were told the theme would be centered on the apocalypse, but now which apocalypse. There are so many apocalyptic themes that could be involved; biblical, nuclear war, zombies, etc. Fans started talking and developing their own theories.

With the normal American Horror Story teasers that never fully reveal anything each year, this year was no different with everything from distorted video’s featuring stars like Sarah Paulson and Evan Peters on Instagram, to a Facebook Live fashion/dance show called REVEL8TION.

I watched it and I was intrigued yet, confused. Ryan Murphy knows how to build his audience up.

My personal theory: I believe the biblical apocalypse has occurred direct from the book of revelation and we are watching all our characters in hell.

From what FX has released regarding the new season, I have seen characters that were thought to be dead in previous seasons. No spoiler alert, as I am not releasing character names. One character literally got trapped in hell and disappeared from the living world as we all know it but suddenly, this character is back. Did this character return from hell? Or did they have the other characters joined them when the apocalypse occurred and now live in the same hell?

This is the appeal of American Horror Story attempting to figure out where the story is going and what truth will be revealed each week. The crossing of multiple seasons into one season is just going to up that reveal factor and I am very excited to see where the audience is taken.
