The First Teasers for ABC’s ‘Roseanne’ Spinoff Series ‘The Conners’ Ask “What’s Next?”

“What’s next?”

That’s the question that fans of the iconic hit sitcom Roseanne have been asking since the series’ abrupt cancellation earlier this year. One thing that we know for sure is that the Conners will be back this fall in a new series spinoff centered around the iconic television family.

ABC has begun its promotion of the new series with a set of teasers aimed at keeping the nostalgic feelings flowing. The quick, 15-second teasers feature iconic scenes from the Roseanne series such as the Conner’s recognizable couch and kitchen, and the front of the family’s home at 714 Delaware Street in Lanford, IL. The cast isn’t featured in the teasers, only the iconic set pieces, while Carly Simon’s song Anticipation plays through the background.

What does this mean for the upcoming series? We’re guessing it’s a hint that the more things change, the more they stay the same. Check out the three teasers released online so far below.

ABC describes the upcoming new comedy series as follows:
[row]“After a sudden turn of events, the Conners are forced to face the daily struggles of life in Lanford in a way they never have before. This iconic family – Dan, Jackie, Darlene, Becky, and D.J. – grapples with parenthood, dating, an unexpected pregnancy, financial pressures, aging and in-laws in working-class America. Through it all, the fights, the coupon cutting, the hand-me-downs, the breakdowns – with love, humor, and perseverance, the family prevails.”[/row]

The series will star John Goodman (Dan), Laurie Metcalf (Jackie), Sara Gilbert (Darlene), Lecy Goranson (Becky), and Michael Fishman (D.J.) all reprising their beloved character roles from the original Roseanne series. Tom Werner will executive produce, along with Gilbert, Bruce Helford, Dave Caplan, Bruce Rasmussen, and Tony Hernandez. Helford, Caplan, and Rasmussen are also writers.

The Conners is set to premiere on Tuesday, October 16th at 8 pm.
