‘Game of Thrones’: Peter Dinklage Reveals What Tyrion was Actually Thinking During THAT Jon and Daenerys Scene

There are many mysteries still left to be resolved from Game of Thrones‘s seventh season, however, one particular open-ended season finale moment has finally been explained by the actor himself, Peter Dinklage.

*SPOILER ALERT for those who are caught up through the Season 7 Finale, we are, of course, talking about the scene where Jon Snow (played by Kit Harington) and Daenerys (played by Emilia Clarke) have “relations” for the first time. During the scene, we see a troubled-looking Tyrion lurking in the dark hallway outside of their room.

That short scene led to many fan theories as to just what was going through Tyrion’s mind at that moment. It’s clear that he, himself, loves Daenerys, but as Dinklage reveals to Entertainment Weekly, his troubled expression goes much deeper than his own feelings of love.

When asked what Tyrion was thinking during that scene, Dinklage deadpanned, “Keep it down over there, I’m trying to get some sleep!”

Of course, his first answer was a joke, but what followed that joke was a thoughtful, deep and complicated explanation which will give fans a clear look inside Tyrion’s mind. Dinklage continued:

[row]“No, it’s complicated. A lot of the time with Tyrion, it’s professional and personal. Obviously, he has feelings for Daenerys. He loves her — or thinks he does. She’s awe-inspiring. He’s questioning that because he doesn’t have a good track record for falling in love. There’s jealousy wrapped up in there. And he loves Jon Snow, too. They’re the two people he has the most in common with, in a way — they’re both outsiders in their own families who have refused to follow the path their family has taken, and hopefully for the better. He’s wondering how smart of a move [Jon and Dany getting romantically involved is], because passion and politics don’t mix well. He knows the two of them getting together could be very dangerous.”[/row]

It could be dangerous, indeed – Especially when they all learn that Jon and Daenerys are related!

There’s so much to look forward to in the upcoming season of Game of Thrones, but we definitely can’t wait to see the Jon, Daenerys and Tyrion storyline play out.

The Game of Thrones eighth and final season will air starting sometime in 2019. No formal premiere date has been announced just yet.
