Netflix’s House of Cards is adding some serious star power to its cast for the show’s sixth and final season. Announced at the beginning of this year, Academy Award-nominees Diane Lane and Greg Kinnear joined the cast of the drama series.
On Monday, Netflix dropped the first images of Lane and Kinnear in their new roles. According to Entertainment Weekly, Lane and Kinnear will play Annette and Bill Shepherd, characters described as, “wealthy siblings whose family foundations allow them to be a powerful behind-the-scenes force in the political landscape.”

The upcoming sixth season will be the last for House of Cards. The season will focus on Claire Underwood (played by Robin Wright) as the new President. The series has experienced some shake-ups in the past few years after allegations against series lead Kevin Spacey forced the series to change directions. Spacey played the role of Frank Underwood, President of the United States. Claire has recently stepped into the Commander-in-Chief role after her husband (played by Spacey) stepped down from his command in the fifth season. Production on the series was shut down briefly while the claims against Spacey were being investigated. Ultimately, the character shift came after Spacey left the series amid sexual assault allegations from several accusers.
In addition to Lane, Kinnear, and Wright, the series will also star Michael Kelly, Jayne Atkinson, Patricia Clarkson, Constance Zimmer, Derek Cecil, Campbell Scott, Boris McGiver, and Cody Fern.
The executive producers for House of Cards are Melissa James Gibson, Frank Pugliese, Robin Wright, David Fincher, Joshua Donen, Dana Brunetti, Eric Roth, Michael Dobbs and Andrew Davies.
Netflix’s House of Cards will be available to stream starting November 2nd!
