Stanislav Ianevski Tells the Story of His First Experience With the Harry Potter Fandom

During LeakyCon 2018 in Dallas, Texas, Stanislav Ianevski, who played Victor Krum, opened up about his experience working on Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, including the story of his first exposure to the fandom.

When first cast as the superstar Krum, Ianevski admitted that he had no idea what Harry Potter. He was at school when he bumped into a casting agent and that’s how it all started. Ianevski’s first taste of the character was when he was getting fitted for the body cast of the shark.

“Back then, everyone was really excited and said, ‘Oh, this is Krum turning into a shark to save Hermione.’ And I was just nodding as if I knew what was going on. So I thought that I should just get the book and read and see what I’d gotten myself into.”

Ianevski really enjoyed his time on set, saying the new cast members were greeted warmly and there was a lot of time for them to bond before filming began. He laughed, saying he especially enjoyed the fact that he always had a group of girls following him around.

When asked what his favorite experience was, Ianevski chose to talk about the premier of Goblet of Fire. Quite unexpectedly, he received a marriage proposal.

“I remember getting out of the car and everything was really well-organized and rehearsed. And, well, when I came out of the car, I saw that, I think it was pink…pink flying through the sky at me. And it was a bra. I was only 20. And it had a note saying ‘Marry me.’ I remember, you know, catching that thing, and saying, ‘Oh, let’s see who that belongs to.'”
