80’s Rocker Rick Springfield to Guest Star on ‘The Goldbergs’!

ABC’s comedy series The Goldbergs is bringing in some retro royalty for Season 6! Episode three will feature 80’s rockstar Rick Springfield taking on the role of Erica Goldberg’s new boss, the owner of a karaoke bar called Gary-oke’s.

While Rick Springfield has made his mark in the music industry with classic hits like Jessie’s Girl, Love Somebody, Human Touch and more, he also has an extensive acting resume. Best known as nostalgic soap opera heartthrob Noah Drake on General Hospital, Mr. Springfield has also made appearances in several TV series and movies throughout his career including FX’s American Horror Story Season 7 (Pastor Charles) and CW’s Supernatural (Lucifer). Of all his appearances, one of my personal favorites happens to be when he spoofs himself on the Showtime series Californication starring bad boy David Duchovny.

No matter where his career path may lead though, it appears that Rick will always have a passion for the era that shaped his career.

“At last I get to play a guy from the 80s,” Springfield says. “I’m excited to guest star on The Goldbergs and return back to 1980-something!” – Source: Entertainment Weekly

The Goldbergs is a show based on the childhood and family of creator Adam F. Goldberg during the iconic 80’s. Fans are taken back to the decade of big hair, bright clothes and bangin’ music; a time when anything seemed possible. Those fortunate to have experienced the decadence firsthand will appreciate the show’s efforts in bringing forth fond memories and Rick Springfield is no exception. Hard to believe the handsome guy turns 69 today. Happy Birthday Rick! Keep rockin’.

The Goldbergs returns to ABC on Sept. 26 at 8 p.m. ET.
