The cast of the upcoming live-action Dora the Explorer film is really beginning to come together. On Tuesday, two incredible new cast members were announced to be starring in the film.
Former Desperate Housewives star Eva Longoria has joined the production in the role of Dora’s mother, Elena. Also announced today, Ant-Man and the Wasp star Michael Peña has joined the cast to play Dora’s father opposite Longoria.
Both Longoria and Peña have been keeping busy in their careers. Longoria most recently starred in the films Dog Days and Overboard. In addition to appearing in Marvel’s Ant-Man and the Wasp, Peña has also recently starred in Netflix’s Extinction and the upcoming new season of Narcos.
The upcoming live-action Dora the Explorer film is based on the beloved children’s cartoon which follows the titular character on different adventures. In addition to Longoria and Peña, the film also stars Isabela Moner (as Dora), Eugenio Derbez, Micke Moreno, Nicholas Coombe, Madeleine Madden, Adriana Barraza, and Temuera Morrison.
Just last week, Dora herself Isabela Moner gave fans a first look at the upcoming film. Moner posted a photo of herself in full Dora costume to her Instagram account. Check out the first photo below.
Additionally, Paramount has released an official synopsis for the film:
The film is directed by James Bobin and is already in production in Austrailia. Dora is expected to explore her way to theaters on August 2, 2019.
