Here’s What Dave Bautista Thinks About James Gunn’s Firing
Bautista is Showing Support for James Gunn
Disney fired Gunn for several offensive tweets made several years ago. This had many people outraged. Those people were not only fans, but the cast even seemed to be taken aback and shocked.
Dave Bautista, who plays the big, tough yet soft-hearted and silly Drax in the Guardians of the Galaxy movies recently spoke out on his own as well about James Gunn’s recent firing from further directing the franchise.
Bautista defends the writer and director strongly, with public statements about the alleged injustice of Disney’s decision. He writes in a tweet, “GOTG w/o James Gunn just isn’t GOTG.”
I will do what Im legally obligated to do but @Guardians without @JamesGunn is not what I signed up for. GOTG w/o @JamesGunn just isn’t GOTG. Its also pretty nauseating to work for someone who’d empower a smear campaign by fascists #cybernazis . That’s just how I feel https://t.co/Ym4FwruVDu

The rest of the cast seems to be in the same boat. Before this twee, they released a joint letter penned and signed by each cast member after carefully thinking about their words.
In the letter they write, “We fully support James Gunn. We were all shocked by his abrupt firing last week and have intentionally waited these ten days to respond in order to think, pray, listen, and discuss. In that time, we’ve been encouraged by the outpouring of support from fans and members of the media who wish to see James reinstated as director of ‘Volume 3’ as well as discouraged by those so easily duped into believing the many outlandish conspiracy theories surrounding him.”
Other than noting that the franchise would be different without Gunn, Bautista revealed his feelings about Disney, referring to Mike Cernovich, who is the person who brought his old tweets back to light.
“It’s also pretty nauseating to work for someone who’d empower a smear campaign by fascist cybernazis,”
Disney is still silent about whether or not Gunn will get his job back, but reports are surfacing saying that they have no plans to rehire him.
In addition, there is a fan-made petition making rounds which currently has over 350, 000 signatures.
It was announced that James Gunn would be let go from the franchise nearly one month ago, and the backlash doesn’t seem to be stopping any time soon.
