Could we BE any more excited about Friends star David Schwimmer is returning to television sitcoms? I think not!
Schwimmer, who is best known for playing the role of Ross Geller on Friends, is heading back to NBC in a recurring role on the network’s popular sitcom revival Will & Grace.
On the show, Schwimmer will be playing the role of Grace’s new love interest over the course of several episodes. This wouldn’t be the first time Grace (played by Debra Messing) had dated a familiar famous face. The series has hosted guest roles from actors such as Woody Harrelson, Gregory Hines, Eric Stoltz and, of course, Harry Connick Jr.
At this time, it’s unclear just how many episodes Schwimmer will appear in, but Deadline is reporting it could be up to five.
Schwimmer has been keeping busy lately focusing mainly on drama. Most recently, he delivered a stunning performance on The People vs. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story where he played the role of Robert Kardashian. His work on American Crime Story earned him the second Emmy nomination of his career following a previous nomination for his work on Friends.
Will & Grace is about to enter into its second season since the series was revived in 2017 and its 10th overall season since the series first aired back in 1998. It has already been renewed for a third season (11th overall). The series originally ran for eight seasons from 1998 through 2006 before being revived. The whole original cast returned for the 2017 revival including Messing as Grace Adler, Eric McCormack as Will Truman, Sean Hayes as Jack McFarland, and Megan Mullally as Karen Walker.
The series will be returning with a new 18-episode season on October 4th.
