‘Star Wars’: Harrison Ford’s ‘Empire Strikes Back’ Jacket Could Sell for $1.3 Million at Auction
If you are into movie and television memorabilia and film props and you’d like to own actual pieces from your favorite films, then you’re going to want to start saving some money and mark down September 20th on your calendar.
In September of this year, more than six hundred items of iconic movie and TV memorabilia will be going up for auction in London through Prop Store Auction. The items going up for auction are valued at over $4.6 million and include some truly iconic pieces such as Marty McFly’s hoverboard from Back to the Future II, Tyler Durden’s Fight Club robe, the jacket Arnold Schwarzenegger wore in the original Terminator, the corset Michelle Pfeiffer wore as Catwoman in Batman Returns, Harrison Ford’s Indiana Jones Fedora form Raiders of the Lost Ark and more.
All of these items are truly iconic pieces of pop-culture history and could bring in anywhere between $13,000 to $400,000 at auction, however, there is one item, in particular, that is causing a major buzz in the auction world.
The grey jacket worn by Harrison Ford as Han Solo in the classic 1980s Star Wars film Empire Strikes Back, is expected to sell for some major moolah! This will be the jacket’s first time up at auction. Bids are estimated to start at $660,000 and could top out at $1.3 million just for this one item.
Brandon Alinger, the chief operating officer for Los Angeles’s Prop Store, told Bloomberg, “It is a world of very limited availability. Something like the Han Solo jacket, for example, there has never been another one in public auction. So, this the first time that anyone on planet Earth has the opportunity to buy a Han Solo jacket.”
It’s an insane thought to realize that, in just a few weeks, someone will actually own Harrison Ford’s Han Solo jacket. The going price is likely too steep for regular Star Wars fans, but here’s to hoping it ends up being well cared for and put on display for all to enjoy.
