‘Supergirl’: Brent Spiner to Recur in Season 4

Supergirl: Brent Spiner to Recur in Season 4

Brent Spiner, best known for his role as Data on Star Trek: Next Generation, has signed on to play the recurring role of Vice President Baker in Season 4 of Supergirl. The character is described as being adept and politically-minded, and will step up as a leader when his country needs him the most.

Season 3 of Supergirl found Earth plagued by the Worldkillers, who enacted their own brand of justice. Supergirl managed to defeat Reign, but it was a hard battle. The past two years of the show have dealt with tensions between humans and aliens, with that conflict likely continuing into Season 4. In the Season 2 finale, the President of the United States, Olivia Marsiden (played by Lynda Carter) revealed to the world that she was in fact an alien. Tensions between the humans and aliens will be at an all-time high following the Worldkiller’s attack, so it makes sense that the Vice President might be forced to step up. Hopefully this doesn’t mean that this is the last we’ll see of President Marisden.

Spiner joins a shifting cast for Season 4. It was announced that series regulars Jeremy Jordan (Winn) and Chris Wood (Mon-El) would return in a recurring capacity, while Jesse Rath (Brainiac-5) has been promoted to a series regular. Newcomers include Nicole Maines (Nia Nal, aka Dreamer), Sam Witwer (Agent Liberty), April Parker Jones (Colonel Haley), Rhona Mitra (Mercy Graves), and David Ajala (Manchester Black).

Season 4 of Supergirl returns Sunday, October 14, on The CW.
