Jason Segel to Create and Star in New AMC Anthology Series

How I Met Your Mother fans will be happy to hear that Jason Segel is making his triumphant return to the small screen. During AMC’s panel at this year’s Television Critics Association summer press tour, the network announced that they had ordered Segel’s hour-long anthology series Dispatches From Elsewhere which he will both create and star in.

Dispatches From Elsewhere follows “a group of ordinary people who stumble onto a puzzle hiding just behind the veil of everyday life and come to find that the mystery winds far deeper than they ever imagined.” Joining Segel on the creative team are The Night Of’s Garrett Basch and The Newsroom’s Scott Rudin and Eli Bush who will serve as Executive Producers.

This is a very special project based on a truly unique premise and peopled by vivid characters, all driven by Jason’s wildly creative vision. We’re thrilled for audiences to see this bold, witty and enthralling series,” said David Madden, President of AMC programming.[/row]

Dispatches From Elsewhere marks Segel’s return to television after his nine-season run on the CBS comedy How I Met Your Mother where he played Marshall Erikson from 2005 to 2014. He recently starred in the David Foster Wallace biopic The End of the Tour and has written the screenplays for popular films such as Forgetting Sarah Marshall, The Muppets, and The Five-Year Engagement.
