John Krasinski Wants a Reboot of ‘The Office’ to Happen

In December of last year, there was some serious buzz about a potential reboot of The Office coming our way in 2018. Now that the year is more than halfway over, and we still haven’t heard any additional details, we are admittedly really bummed. We are, however, super happy to see some of The Office former castmates doing some amazing work lately.John Krasinski Wants a Reboot of 'The Office' to Happen

John Krasinski, for example, has completely come out of his Office shell. The series essentially launched his comedic career, and since, he’s turned more towards dramatic work. He has had massive success with action, dramas like Jack Ryan and A Quiet Place, but in a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Krasinski says he would love to do more comedy, as long as it’s comedy that’s as good or better than The Office. Krasinski said:

[row]“I was lucky to be on a show where it was the most exciting and fun comedy that I’ve ever been a part of or experienced. For me, it set a bar really, really high. I would love to do more comedy, it would just have to be that same level of feeling very real, and that’s going to be hard to find.”[/row]

It certainly would be hard to find. The Office was pretty much the perfect comedy. The cast’s chemistry was flawless which made for absolutely hilarious moments and episodes. Krasinski reflected back on his time spent on the series and revealed that he would definitely be in for a reboot, should the opportunity arise. He said:

[row]“I think we should reboot it. I think it’s hard obviously with everybody’s schedule to do an Office reboot, but I would so be down. It wasn’t just a show for us. It was a family. None of us had really done anything before. Certainly, Steve [Carell] had been on The Daily Show; I had done nothing, I was a waiter at the time. And Rainn [Wilson] had been on Six Feet Under and a couple other things, but we really came into that feeling like a repertory company. It felt like we were doing regional theater — it was so awesome, it felt so intimate and small. And then when it caught on and people were actually watching, we were genuinely blown away. So all that to say [that] doing a reboot for us wouldn’t just be about bringing the show back, it would be about getting back together with those people. They’re my family, they’re my first and only original business Hollywood-y family, so I’d be lucky to do it.”[/row]

We certainly would love to see a reboot of the office with the original cast in tow. As it turns out, Krasinski has the perfect idea for how that dream could become a reality. He said:

[row]“Maybe we could do like a Christmas special or something. The British show did a Christmas special, which is like, ‘Where are they now?’ for one episode because I don’t know how we’ll get everybody together for 22 episodes.”[/row]
