Watch the Creepy New Trailer for Sony Pictures’ ‘Slender Man’

On Thursday, Sony Pictures dropped the creepy second trailer for their upcoming horror flick, Slender Man.

For those who aren’t familiar, Slender Man is essentially an internet urban legend of the creepiest variety. Described as an extremely tall and thin, featureless human-like being wearing a black suit and tie, the Slender Man folklore reportedly originated with an internet meme back in 2009. Since then, numerous stories have been published depicting horrific tales of the character stalking, terrorizing and abducting people, particularly children and teens. As mainstream knowledge of the character grew, Slender Man began to appear in many aspects of pop culture including video and online games, and even an episode of Law & Order: SVU.

The urban legend gained further attention in 2014 after two young girls allegedly stabbed their friend 19 times, claiming to do so in order to please the “boogeyman” type character. Slender Man has been a topic of fascination ever since.

The second trailer for the film definitely brings the creepy and the scares associated with the supernatural being. It’s sure to creep out even the bravest of souls. Check out the second trailer for Slender Man below.

The official synopsis for the film reads, “in a small town in Massachusetts, a group of friends performs a ritual in an attempt to debunk the lore of SLENDER MAN. When one of them goes mysteriously missing, they begin to suspect that she is, in fact, HIS latest victim.”

Slender Man stars Joey King, Julia Goldani Telles, Jaz Sinclair, Annalise Basso, and Javier Botet and is directed by Sylvain White. The film was written by David Birke and is produced by James Vanderbilt, William Sherak, Robyn Meisinger, and Sarah Snow.

Slender Man will begin terrorizing theaters on August 10, 2018.
