Emma Thompson to Reprise ‘Men In Black’ Role for Spinoff

The new Men in Black spinoff cast just keeps growing and we keep liking every name we see being added. Emma Thompson, who appeared in Men in Black 3, will return for the upcoming spinoff to reprise her role as Agent Zero, according to The Hollywood Reporter. In the 2012 film, Thompson played the present day version of Agent Zero, the chief of the Men in Black organization, and Alice Eve portrayed her younger counterpart.

Thompson joins a cast of Thor: Ragnarok co-stars Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson, Liam Neeson (Taken), Kumail Nanjiani (The Big Sick) and Rafe Spall (Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom). Thompson is the only character who has been confirmed, aside from Nanjiani who is playing someone named Pawny. Sony is keeping pretty much everything under wraps from the title to the plot and whether or not original franchise stars Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones will be appearing.

The film will put a new spin on the original 1997 Men In Black by featuring all new characters and acting more as an ensemble piece. Fear not though, it will still be taking place in the contemporary sci-fi world of the original. Steven Spielberg will be returning as executive producer and Fate of the Furious’ F. Gary Gray will be directing. There’s also another Marvel tie-in as Iron-Man screenwriters Matt Holloway and Art Marcum will be penning the script.

Emma Thompson is best known for her roles in films such as Sense & Sensibility, Love Actually, 2018’s live-action Beauty and the Beast, Nanny McPhee, and Saving Mr. Banks. She will soon lend her voice to The Voyage of Doctor Dolittle, which stars Robert Downey Jr.

The Men in Black spinoff is currently scheduled to be hitting theaters on June 14, 2019!
