USA Cancels ‘Colony’ After Three Seasons

When USA’s original series Colony airs its third season finale tomorrow evening, it will actually serve as its series finale because the network has officially canceled the series. When Colony was missing from the San Diego Comic-Con lineup, an event the cast has been attending since its 2015 premiere, rumors began to swirl about the show’s fate, which has now been confirmed by Deadline.

Starring Lost’s Josh Holloway and The Walking Dead’s Sarah Wayne Callies, Colony followed the Bowman family trying to stay together and survive when Los Angeles becomes invaded by outside forces, creating a new normal where some residents choose to collaborate and benefit from the new order and others rebel and suffer the consequences.

Upon its premiere, Colony was the number one scripted series on Thursday nights for both seasons 1 and 2, but when the network was forced to move filming from California to Vancouver due to a tax credit, the season 3 storyline suffered and so did the viewership numbers.

Colony was created by Lost’s Carlton Cuse who is now turning his focus to the upcoming Jack Ryan series on Amazon starring John Krasinski. In addition to Holloway and Callies, Colony also starred Peter Jacobson, Tory Kittles, Isabella Crovetti, and Alex Neustaedter.

There’s no word yet as to whether the series will be saved, but for now, Colony’s series finale will air on Wednesday, July 25th on USA.
