Pollyanna McIntosh Says Andrew Lincoln Leaves ‘The Walking Dead’ in a “Pretty Damn Awesome Way”

While at San Diego Comic-Con over the weekend, Andrew Lincoln officially confirmed the news of his departure from The Walking Dead to a packed Hall H panel. Now that Lincoln has had a chance to address the show’s fans directly about his upcoming departure from the series, other cast members have also started to weigh in on the news. Most recently, Pollyanna McIntosh, who plays Jadis on the series, shared her thoughts on Lincolns’ departure and one the upcoming season.

McIntosh took to Instagram on Monday and posted a heartfelt message addressed both to the fans and to Lincoln himself. Accompanied by a photo of Elvis Presley (Get it? “Elvis has left the building.”), she wrote:

[row]”Now dear Andy has talked about it at @sandiegocomicconinternational I can say that I’m genuinely excited for the Walking Dead fans despite the grief of it. The man’s leaving the show in a pretty damn awesome way in Season 9 and you will NOT be disappointed with what’s next.

As for me, I’m a lucky bugger for getting to work with him as much as I do and to get to know this honest, talented, funny, generous man and his gorgeous family who will be so happy to spend more time together, which is what they deserve.

He’s leaving #TheWalkingDead cast and crew with a lasting legacy of leadership and his cry to always fight for your character, for faith not fear in moving through the world and for decency and respect in your dealings with others will stay with the #TWDFamily forever. A truly remarkable #1. Thank you Mr. Andy Lincoln. Love ya.”[/row]

One particular point of interest in McIntosh’s message is where she says, “I’m genuinely excited for the Walking Dead fans despite the grief of it. The man’s leaving the show in a pretty damn awesome way in Season 9 and you will NOT be disappointed with what’s next.”

Usually, when someone is leaving The Walking Dead that means gloom and doom for their character, however, McIntosh’s message seems hopeful and excited. Perhaps Rick Grimes may not be meeting a grisly end, but instead proudly walking off into the sunset with hopes of someday returning to rule the apocalypse once more.

Whatever the case may be, fans are now eagerly awaiting the return of the series to find out how Rick Grimes’ journey will come to a close.
