Mark Hamill Suits Up in San Diego – What a ‘Trooper’!

This past weekend Mark Hamill mingled with the masses at San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC). Dressed in costume, The Star Wars icon was unrecognizable as he had fun checking out panels and chatting with unknowing fans. Given the thousands of creative cosplayers that attend this event each year, blending in was clearly an easy task. The cheeky Mr. Hamill did offer up a teaser via Instagram though…

“There’s an unsubstantiated rumor I’m at #SDCC right now wearing a mask to avoid being recognized (I’m not)-But if I really WAS there in disguise, would I lie about it to fool people-secretly talk to fans-attend panels & have fun? (I would) #ComicConCon” – Source: Instagram @hamillhimself

The last time Mark Hamill suited up as Stormtrooper was back in December of 2015 during an Omaze charity promotion prior to the release of  Star Wars: The Force Awakens and he clearly maintains a connection to the Darkside. 😉

While there is always a wide variety of cosplay, one would be hard pressed not to find Star Wars characters well represented at any comic convention. When word leaked about Mark Hamill’s disguised appearance at SDCC, fans began to wonder if they had unwittingly captured a moment with the sneaky Stormtrooper. One fortuitous fan received confirmation from Hamill himself.

Mr. Hamill even ventured outside of the Star Wars galaxy to support favorite comedy series Brooklyn Nine-Nine which had been canceled by the Fox network but saved by NBC.

May The Force be with Mark and his future cosplaying endeavors! It’s heartwarming to see a beloved actor ‘storm’ his way into fandom fun. Were you one of the lucky fans at SDCC to get a surprise photo with Mark Hamill? Share it with Fan Fest News!
