Danai Gurira Dodged an ‘Infinity War’ Spoiler Question Like a Ninja

During The Walking Dead press conference this week at San Diego Comic Con, members of the press were playing question tennis with the cast and creatives, which included Andrew Lincoln, Norman Reedus, Danai Guria, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Lauren Cohan, Scott Gimple, Angela Kang and Greg Nicotero.

A reporter for Huffpost threw a real curveball, and switched it up from the several questions about Andy leaving the show. It was a bold ask, but Godspeed to our bold fellow colleague at HuffPost for trying.

His question-word-for-word was, “What is tougher for you, saying goodbye to Andrew Lincoln on The Walking Dead or Chadwick Boseman in Infinity War?”

Thanos’s snap caused many favorite Marvel characters to disintegrate into thin air and “die”, and what this means has plagued Marvel fans for months now. Are they really dead? T’Challa (Black Panther, played by Chadwick Boseman) is Danai’s character Okoye’s leading man. He was one of the heroes to “die” in the snap.

“Woowwww.” Danai responds.

“Wooow.” She says again.

“Well you know we know that’s a thing that is a thing and that’s all I will say about that.”

Scott Gimple jumps in “Are you saying that Thanos wasn’t successful?

“I am not saying ANYTHING!” Danai defends. “I’m just not going to speak at all being part of these two franchises!” She jokes.

Her humor in the situation really did make it a fun moment for all fans.

While Andrew Lincoln’s departure is confirmed, any Marvel departures are surely locked down until the film airs and will continue to be.

She then went on to praise Andrew Lincoln,

“This is the only show I’ve worked on as a regular, but I will say I truly believe this is the best leading man on television, and I truly believe that he has made us all better. His character, his discipline, his heart, his generosity and kindness have paved the path for us to understand how to carry on without him. He’s so equipped us to carry on, which is what a real leader does. I couldn’t be thankful enough for the time i’ve gotten to work with him and learn from him and understand him. It’s been a true joy to get to explore my character (and she grows in connection with him.) She sees the goodness and power and strength in this man. How he takes on from a place of understanding of what he must do rather than a place of pride or ego.”

Season 9 of The Walking Dead premieres on October 7th, and as far as the next Avengers film goes, Avengers 4 (or what it will eventually be titled) is due out on May 3rd, 2019.
