SDCC 2018: ‘IT Chapter Two’ Footage Shown at New Line Cinema’s ScareDiego Event

San Diego Comic-Con 2018 is officially underway! The event kicked off on Wednesday with preview day, however, the evening belonged to New Line Cinema’s ScareDiego event! The event promised a more in-depth look at the upcoming highly-anticipated Andy Muschietti film IT Chapter Two, and boy, did they deliver!

First and foremost, unfortunately, the footage has not been released online, and most likely will not be, however, the internet has erupted with recounts and reactions to what was shown, so we have a pretty good idea.

IT: Chapter Two picks up 27 years after the events of the first film and follows the adult Loser’s Club heading back to Derry, Maine. We know that the room screened a behind-the-scenes look at the upcoming film (which viewers seemed to really enjoy) as well as a super brief scene showing the adult Losers Club reuniting. The group reunites as a Chinese restaurant in Derry where Bill Hader’s Richie Tozier (played by Finn Wolfhard in the first film) tries to break the tension by saying, “So, what do you guys want to talk about?”

It was a short clip but the internet seems to really be loving the stellar adult cast and they are particularly excited about Hader’s role. In addition to Hader, IT Chapter Two stars Jessica Chastain as Beverly Marsh, James McAvoy as Bill Denbrough, Isaiah Mustafa as Mike Hanlon, Jay Ryan as Ben Hanscom, James Ransone as Eddie Kaspbra, and Andy Bean as Stanley Uris. Bill Skarsgard reprises his role as the terrifying demon clown, Pennywise.

Additionally, Muschietti teased, “It’s going to be scarier. It’s going to be more intense, so bring your adult diapers.”

IT Chapter Two has only just recently started filming in Toronto so production still has a long way to go. The film will be heading into theaters September 6, 2019.
