SDCC 2018: Watch the First Trailer for Jodie Whittaker’s ‘Doctor Who’
The time is now and the universe is calling! The trailer for the upcoming season of BBC’s Doctor Who has arrived today during the shows San Diego Comic-Con presentation! The trailer features the new thirteenth doctor Jodie Whittaker front and center.
Check out the amazing first look trailer below:
It was announced back in July of last year that Whittaker would be taking over for Capaldi who has been playing the role since 2013. Whittaker is the first female to play the role of the beloved Time Lord, and the announcement of her casting drew controversy and criticism from some but, on the whole, created positive buzz and support from fans and castmates (both past and present).
Former series star John Barrowman (who played Captain Jack Harkness) weighed in during a Heroes and Villain Fan Fest New Jersey earlier this year saying, “It’s a bit about time that we had a girl doctor… I think it’s awesome that she’s going to be a girl and I think it’s great that she’s good looking and I would love for Captain Jack to meet the Doctor.”
Likewise, Peter Capaldi shouted his support from the rooftop of Madison Square Garden during New York Comic Con in October 2017. He praised Whittaker during his Doctor Who Panel by saying, “She’s amazing. I’ve seen what she’s done, and you’re in good hands.”
