Zoey Deutch and More Join Ryan Murphy’s ‘The Politician’
Ryan Murphy is not entering the incredible world of Netflix quietly. The Emmy-Award winning showrunner and mastermind behind the American Horror Story and American Crime Story anthology series, is bringing a huge original drama series titled The Politician to the streaming network and the cast just keeps on growing with more Hollywood and Broadway stars.
Already on the roster is Tony-Award winner Ben Platt with Barbra Streisand and Gwyneth Paltrow reportedly co-starring. Now, EW is reporting that Zoey Deutch, who most recently starred in Netflix’s latest rom-com Set It Up, will also star as well as Platt’s Dear Evan Hansen co-star Laura Dreyfuss. Also joining the cast is Lucy Boynton (Bohemian Rhapsody) and TV newcomer Rahne Jones who will be making her small screen debut.
Series star Ben Platt also shared the news on Twitter, hinting that there were even more exciting casting announcements to come!
OUR CAST IS UTTERLY BANANAS.

The singular Lucy Boynton.
The new & spectacular Rahne Jones.

Murphy has teamed back up with his Glee partners Brad Falchuk and Ian Brennan for The Politician, which also reunites the trio with Dreyfuss, who appeared on the beloved musical series’ final season.
The Politician will “revolve around the political aspirations of Payton (Platt), a wealthy Santa Barbarian, and every season will revolve around a different political race his character is involved in.” The series is also expected to feature some musical numbers.
Murphy has been on a consistent hot streak since he hit it huge with Glee back in 2009. He’s been a miniseries juggernaut and award show darling thanks to both American Horror Story, American Crime Series, as well as Feud and his most recent series Pose, which was just recently renewed for season 2 at FX.
What do you think of the growing cast for The Politician? Do you think the show will be another hit for Murphy? Let us know!
Having studied Media & Writing at James Madison University, I always knew that I wanted to do some type of creative writing, but being able to write about zombies, Starks, and superheroes on a daily basis for Fan Fest is my actual dream. While I probably shouldn’t be as proud as I am to be so similar to Nick Miller, I do hope to one day write my own “Pepperwood Chronicles’.
