Jenna Dewan to Guest Star on ‘The Resident’ Season 2

Jenna Dewan has quickly become one busy woman in the TV world! While currently hosting and mentoring on NBC’s World of Dance, Dewan’s new musical drama series, Mixtape, was just ordered to series from Netflix after being passed over by Fox and now TVLine is reporting the actress will be a recurring guest-star in season 2 of Fox’s medical drama The Resident.

Dewan will be playing Julian Lynn, “a sharp and sophisticated medical device rep with an ability to connect with just about anybody. A former dancer, Julian got her life back with the help of a device, and now she’s passionate about helping others do the same. Throughout the season, Julian gradually becomes aware of the lack of transparency in her chosen field and realizes there may be dangerous issues ahead.”

Starring Matt Czuchry, Emily VanCamp, Bruce Greenwood and Manish Dayal, The Resident follows a young doctor (Manish Dayal) who begins working under Conrad Hawkins (Czuchry), a tough and talented senior resident who is willing to peel back the medical curtains and expose the hospital for all of its successes and shortcomings, especially when it comes to the often-morally corrupt Dr. Bell (Bruce Greenwood).

Dewan’s casting is a huge draw for the series, which recently lost season 1 series regulars Merrin Dungey, Melina Kanakaredes, and Moran Atias. Meanwhile, Malcolm-Jamal Warner (Dr. AJ Austin) and Glenn Morshower (Marshall Winthrop) were both promoted to series regulars for Season 2.

The Resident will be back on Fox Monday, Sept. 24, at 8/7c. You can currently catch Dewan on World of Tuesdays on NBC at 10/9c.
