‘The Good Doctor’ Star Chuku Modu Reportedly Cast in ‘Captain Marvel’

Captain Marvel may have officially wrapped its filming, but there is still very little known about the upcoming film. Over the weekend, however, IMDB News reported that The Good Doctor star Chukuma Modu has a secret role in the film.

Modu is said to have a “yet-undetermined” role in the highly-anticipated Marvel film which is due out in March 2019. Modu is best-known for his role as Dothraki warrior Aggo on HBO’s Game of Thrones and for his most recent role as Dr. Jared Kalu on ABC’s smash hit The Good Doctor.

Back in April, it was reported that Modu would be exiting The Good Doctor ahead of the series’ second season. His character, Dr. Kalu, has been on a thin ice at St. Bonaventure after being fired for physically assaulting another doctor who was sexually harassing Dr. Claire Browne (played by Antonia Thomas). After threatening legal action, Kalu got his job back, however, it was inferred that his return was only temporary. In the season 1 finale, we learned that Kalu had applied for and was accepted to a program in Denver, Colorado, once again, providing an exit scenario for the character.

Modu was present at the first table read for The Good Doctor’s second season so, hopefully, the series will give his character a proper goodbye as he is a fan-favorite.

As for Captain Marvel, we do know that the film is set in the 1990s and will follow Air Force pilot Carol Danvers (played by Brie Larson). When Danvers’ DNA becomes mixed with that of an alien, she becomes one of the most powerful superheroes ever, Captain Marvel.

Marvel has already given fans a little tease of Captain Marvel during a post-credit scene following Avengers: Infinity War. Right before Nick Fury succumbs to Thanos’ devastating snap, he’s able to send a signal for help. That signal was sent to Captain Marvel! Could she be the key to defeating Thanos in Avengers 4?

Captain Marvel stars Brie Larson, Jude Law, Ben Mendelsohn, Samuel L. Jackson, Clark Gregg, Lee Pace, Gemma Chan, and Djimon Hounsou. Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck directed the film which was written by Boden and Fleck as well as Meg LeFauve, Nicole Perlman, Geneva Robertson-Dworet, Liz Flahive, and Carly Mensch.

Captain Marvel is set to be released on March 8, 2019.
