On Thursday, the nominations for the upcoming 70th annual Emmy Awards were announced and, wouldn’t you know it, HBO’s Game of Thrones dominated the nomination list. Overall, the series earned 22 nominations, the most of any of the other nominated television series, including Outstanding Drama Series.

Series star Peter Dinklage earned himself another nomination for Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series and while doing so, he also broke an Emmys record. This year marks the seventh consecutive year Dinklage has been nominated for his supporting actor role making him the most nominated person ever within that category. If Dinklage wins the category at this year’s awards, he will be tied with Breaking Bad’s Aaron Paul for the most wins within the category.

In addition to Dinklage, fellow Game of Thrones castmate Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (who plays Dinklage’s on-screen brother Jaime Lannister) also earned a nomination in the supporting actor category. Lena Headey (who plays their sister Cersei Lannister) also earned a nom for Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series.

Game of Thrones is currently in the process of wrapping up its production on the upcoming eighth and final season. The final season of Game of Thrones is by far one of the most highly-anticipated television series events ever as fans wait to learn the epic conclusion of the battle for the Irone Throne.

In addition to the eighth and final season, HBO recently announced that one of the potential Game of Thrones spinoff series received a pilot order from the network giving fans comfort that, though the original series might be coming to an end, there is still more story to be told once the final chapter of the HBO series airs. The pilot for the Game of Thrones spinoff prequel series is scheduled to begin filming this fall.

The final season of Game of Thrones will air sometime in 2019. No formal premiere date has yet been announced.
