What we Know About Fortnite Season 5
Disclaimer. There’s a lot we don’t know.
Epic Games confirmed a few things we already sort of know, and released the first official tease of Fortnite Season 5! On Monday morning, through a tweet, the company announced that season 5 of Fortnite was just three days away. It was previously announced that the release date would be July 12, but confirmation is always welcome!

We are glad to know about the release date, but that is not all the tweet had to offer. It features a famliar mask from a rift that keeps showing itself in the game. Speculations have already been going around about the game and fans think that most likely the mask is a reference to the Japanese kitsune or fox. The kitsune, according to Japanese folklore, can shapeshift into human form. It also possesses supernatural abilities.
It is very difficult to guess what this might mean for Fortnite Season 5, but this is the first time there’s been a direct reference to Japan. There have been other eras of history appearing. There have been references to ancient Egypt, pirates and carriages. Some say this season will focus on time travel, and the ancient Japanese reference would fall nicely into that theme.
It is important to note that most players think it is a teaser of a kitsune skin being available to be unlocked through the Season 5 Battle Pass.
The fifth season launches at 4 a.m. EDT on July 12!
