J.B. Smoove Set for ‘Spider-Man: Far From Home’

Deadline is reporting that Curb Your Enthusiasm’s J.B. Smoove has just been cast in Spider-Man: Far From Home alongside Tom Holland. They were unable to get an official statement from Sony but did allude to Smoove having a leading role in the ensemble cast.

Aside from Smoove, the only other casting news to come out of Far From Home, which has officially begun production in London, was that Jake Gyllenhaal was close to signing on as popular villain Mysterio, who uses his skills as a special effects expert to create illusions as distractions in order to commit crimes. Michael Keaton, Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, and Marisa Tomei are all expected to reprise their roles for the sequel.

Smoove is known for his role on Curb Your Enthusiasm as Leon Black, which he played on the HBO series from seasons 6-9. He recently appeared on the sports mockumentary series The 5th Quarter and will soon be in Going Place, the spin-off of The Big Lebowski.

Taking place minutes after Avengers 4, Far From Home will find everyone’s favorite web-slinger dealing the repercussions and emotional fallout of both Infinity War and Far From Home as he and his friends find themselves in London, England.  Spider-Man: Far From Home will be hitting theaters July 5, 2019.
