Back in November of 2017, a Disney princess named Giselle captured all of our hearts in the magical live-action film Enchanted. In recent years, there has been some discussion regarding a sequel to the beloved film. In fact, back in 2014, the development process was even put into motion, but still, here we are in 2018, sequel-less, but not to worry! All these years later, film star Amy Adams says she’s still ready for a sequel to happen.
Adams stopped by The Talk recently to promote her new HBO series Sharp Objects, however, during the interview co-host Sara Gilbert asked the question that was on all of our minds! Gilbert asks, “There’s been talk of an Enchanted sequel. Are you up for that?”
Adams happily and immediately replied by saying, “I am absolutely up for that!” Her response was met with a thunderous round of applause from the audience and the panel of co-hosts. After the excitement calmed down a bit, Adams continued by saying, “We’re working on it — so hopefully.”
In the 2007 film, Adams played the role of Giselle, a Disney animated princess who has a run-in with an evil queen. The evil queen puts a curse on Giselle, banishing her from the animated land she calls home and into the reality of real-life Manhattan. In addition to Adams, the film starred Patrick Dempsey, James Marsden, Timothy Spall, Idina Menzel, Rachel Covey and Susan Sarandon.
Deadline reports that back in 2014, a sequel started gaining momentum with Anne Fletcher onboard to direct the film written by J.David Stem and David N. Weiss. The sequel was to be derived from an earlier script drafted by Jessie Nelson.
Currently, a sequel is in the very early stages of development with director Adam Shankman.
