Rob Thomas Talks More ‘Veronica Mars’ Cameos on ‘iZombie’

With iZombie about to embark on its final season, fans are beginning to wonder if any more residents from Neptune, CA will be making a final cameo. Before becoming the showrunner of iZombie, Rob Thomas was at the helm of another WB (now CW) staple called Veronica Mars. The series starred Kristen Bell as a high school private investigator living in Neptune, CA. The show was, and still is, a cult hit and became one of the first series to have a feature film completely crowdfunded by fans.

Thomas has treated fans to some Veronica Mars cameos in the past starting with Jason Dohring, who played Logan Echols on Veronica Mars and multi-season villain Chase Graves on iZombie. Enrico Colantoni (Keith Mars) appeared in a few episodes of season 4 on iZombie and Francis Capra (Eli ‘Weevil’ Navarro) had a supporting role in episode 4×06 “My Really Fair Lady”. Fans were also treated to a Paul Rudd voiceover in iZombie’s season 4 finale as well but there are two people that fans would love to see make their iZombie debut, including Thomas.

[row]”I’d love to get Tina Majorino. We did offer her one role, but it wasn’t her cup of tea, which I totally got,” Thomas said of the actress who played Cindy “Mac” Mackenzie throughout Veronica Mars’ three-season run. [/row]

Of course, the big one would be series star Kristen Bell.

[row]”If we shot in L.A. [versus Vancouver], Kristen would do us a solid and do the show, but she’s got two young daughters and lives in Los Angeles and has her own full-time gig on The Good Place. That’s asking a bit too much from her.”[/row]

Whether or not any Veronica Mars alums make an appearance, the final season of iZombie is sure to be a satisfying one for fans seeing as The CW gave Thomas the opportunity to end it on his own terms heading into season 5.

[row]“We could have gone longer, but we are pretty pleased to be coming back for a fifth season. We got by the skin of our teeth this year, and I would have been incredibly heartbroken if we had not gotten to do another one because we would not have ended up leaving everything in a resolved place,” Thomas shared with TV Line.[/row]

iZombie stars Rose McIver, Malcolm Goodwin, Rahul Kohli, Robert Buckley and Aly Michalka. The fifth and final season is set to premiere sometime in 2019.
