Andrew Lincoln Might Have Wrapped Filming ‘The Walking Dead’

Andrew Lincoln, who has been seen as a permanent fixture in the AMC zombie series The Walking Dead since 2010, may have filmed his final scene.

The British born actor was recently caught on camera by a fan at Heathrow airport, which means he has returned home to his family, and is no longer in Atlanta- where The Walking Dead is filmed. The show has just begun filming the sixth episode of season 9.

We are still not sure of the number of episodes in season nine that Andrew will be in, but this could be a sign that Rick will be making an exit from the series before the mid-season finale.
It is also a possibility that AMC could be shooting episodes that don’t require him and that he’s taking some time with family before returning, but this case is unlikely seeing as it was confirmed in May that he’d be leaving the series in the middle.

We spoke to Andrew Lincoln last year, and asked what his ideal way for Rick to die would be. Here’s what he said.

Out of respect to the fans and everybody myself, I want to have stock in this extraordinary story, but how do you do that in a comic book and a show that never ends? That’s what’s exciting and formidable about the show is that I would love to see Rick grow old and look like Mount Rushmore, but I have a feeling that’s not gonna be the case. We’ve built such an extraordinary fan based on a story that is painful. Beautiful but painful-which is life. I like to think that we’re going to continue to do that. What that means is that at some point Rick’s gonna have to fall, probably. But the short answer is, I don’t know. Ask Scott Gimple.

We’ll be attending San Diego Comic Con, where the series will be well represented. There’s no word yet if Andy will be in attendance, but there are sure to be more details revealed over the week. Keep your eyes here and on our social media for all the latest!

The Walking Dead season 9 returns in October, with sister show Fear The Walking Dead‘s second half returning on August 12th.
