Could We Get a Third ‘Ant-Man’ Movie?

Ant-Man and the Wasp may be just flying into theaters this weekend but that doesn’t mean it’s too early to start thinking about a third! The first movie was fantastic and the reviews of the follow-up are just as promising, but since the Ant-Man franchise wasn’t promised a trilogy, star Evangeline Lilly recently told The Hollywood Reporter that it really depends on fans showing up to theaters in order to get that third and assumingly final chapter.

[row]”At this point, my understanding is that we need to get butts in the theater seats again if we’re going to have another film,” Lilly said. “So if everyone gets out and watches it then I would assume we’ll have another one. I hope we’ll have another one because I really want to do it again, but I don’t know right now.”[/row]

2015’s Ant-Man debuted after Avengers: Age of Ultron to a $57 million opening weekend and eventually went on to make over $500 million globally. The film currently holds a certified fresh 82% on Rotten Tomatoes. Ant-Man and the Wasp is already predicted to beat the opening weekend gross when it hits theaters this weekend and is already at an 88% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Director Peyton Reed has hinted that if the Ant-Man were to get the third movie, they would definitely like to spend some more time in the quantum realm.

[row]”There are definitely things in this movie that, if we’re fortunate enough to make another one, there’s a lot to play with,” Reed told ComicBook.com at the Ant-Man and the Wasp press junket. “We spend more time in the Quantum Realm in this movie, obviously than the first movie but it feels like we’re just dipping our toes into it.”[/row]

Starring Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly, Michael Pena, Michael Douglas, Michelle Pfieffer, Walton Goggins and Hannah John Kamen, Ant-Man and the Wasp follows Scott Lang as he struggles to balance being both a superhero and a father. Meanwhile,  Hope van Dyne and Dr. Hank Pym present an urgent new mission that finds the Ant-Man and The Wasp fighting to uncover secrets from their past.

The movie hits theaters July 6, 2018!
