‘Trick ‘r Treat’ Collector’s Edition Blu-ray to be Released
Although Halloween seems like it’s a lifetime away from us, Scream Factory has announced the release of a Collector’s Edition Blu-ray of the fan-favorite October 31st themed anthology movie, Trick ‘r Treat. It will have a brand new cover designed by Devon Whitehead. It is expected to be out this fall, and director Michael Doughtery is “very much involved”, according to posts on the Scream Factory Facebook Page. The release, expected to be October 9, 2018 and it will have new extras, but further details will be released in September.
The stars of the popular and eerily funny Trick ‘r Treat are: Dylan Baker, Anna Paquin, Leslie Bibb, Rochelle Aytes, and Brian Cox. Their stories are tied together by “Sam,” who hides his face in a burlap sack. It’s safe to say that crossing his path will make your Halloween a spooky one.
The film initially did not have an opening weekend to write home about when it was first released, but over time, it has acquired a huge and loyal following and is now looked up to as one of the best horror anthology movies ever made. Dougherty is also known for his work with Krampus and the upcoming Godzilla: King of the Monsters.
Back in 2016, when Dougherty was asked by EW about the movie’s ever-growing reputation, he said,
“It’s an honor and a rarity that a film which took the path that it took managed to become a cult or whatever-you-want-to-call-it — I hesitate to use the word classic, but you understand what I mean. It’s just rare to have a film that people really rally around like this. I’m touched.”
