Kimberly Peirce Joins Lineup of Potential ‘Black Widow’ Film Directors

The Black Widow Film, which has not yet been officially announced by Marvel Studios, does not have a director, and they are still trying to find one to get it off the ground. The most likely candidate for the role has been Berlin Syndrome and Lore director Cate Shortland, but there could be a new name eyeing the coveted title as well.

Film reporter Jeff Sneider, tweeted that he found out there’s a new potential director now in the mix-Kimberly Pierce.

Kimberly Peirce also known as the director of Boys Don’t Cry and the 2013 remake of Carrie.

Other directors up for the job are reportedly Amma Asante (Belle) and Maggie Betts (Novitate). Out of a heavy 49 candidates, these four have climbed to the top. Now it’s up to Marvel to narrow it down to the final lady to help guide Natasha Romanova’s newest adventure.

Because the film is not officially in production yet, information concerning the movie is limited. What we have heard is that it will be a prequel to Iron Man 2, possibly showing Natasha’s progression from the Soviet Union to S.H.I.E.L.D. operative.

Scarlett Johansson appeared as Black Widow in Avengers: Infinity War which ramped up the anticipation even more for her solo film. She was seen several times in the film fighting alongside Captain America. She also was one of the survivors who remained unaffected by Thanos’s fateful snap.
