Keiynan Lonsdale Announces He Won’t Return to Arrowverse Next Season as Series Regular
During Season 2 of The Flash, fans were first introduced to Keiynan Lonsdale as Wally West. He took a more prominent role in Season 3 when he became Kid Flash, learning from Barry and gaining control of his speed so he could save Iris and defeat Savitar. Season 4 found Wally questioning his position on the team, which eventually led him to joining the Legends in their plight to stop Damien Darhk and Mallus. Wally has been such a fun, charismatic character and it is sad to hear that Lonsdale will not be returning to The Flash or Legends of Tomorrow as a series regular.
Lonsdale confirmed via Twitter that he will be stepping away from the Arrowverse, but assured fans that this wasn’t a total good-bye. “Wally West will still be round when you need him the most,” he tweeted.
Wally was an essential part of the Legends in their final battle against Mallus, wielding one of the Totems. In the season finale of The Flash, Wally returned for the celebration of the birth of Joe and Cecile’s child. He told his father that the decision to leave Central City to find himself was the best of his life. He found a family in the Legends and couldn’t wait to be back with them. There is no news on if Lonsdale will be around for the first couple of episodes of the new season of The Flash and Legends. Hopefully, Wally will get the send-off he deserves and will be able to pop back in every now and then.
We wish Keiynan all the best in his future endeavors.
