‘The Gifted’ Star Emma Dumont Cast in ‘Razor’ Comic Film Adaptation
The Gifted star Emma Dumont is trying her hand at a different kind of comic book story. The actress has landed the lead role in the upcoming film adaptation of the comic book series Razor.
Deadline reports that Dumont will play the lead role of Nicole Mitchell described as, “a young woman who, as a ten-year-old, witnesses her cop father’s murder by a gang of upwardly mobile crime figures who seek to thwart his investigation into their nefarious activities. The trauma lands her in a sanitarium for a decade in which time she develops a complex plan of revenge on the murderers.”
Upon her release from the sanitarium, Mitchell seeks to rid her hometown of evil and dangers by becoming the vigilante heroine, the titular character, Razor.
The film is based on a comic book series by the same name which was written and created by Everette Hartsoe. Rob Cohen (The Fast and the Furious and XXX) will direct while a team made up of Jeff Most (The Crow), Grant Cramer (Lone Survivor), Anna Wang (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: Sword of Destiny), Christopher Milburn (An American Haunting), and Philip Lee (The Dark Knight) are on board to produce.
Cohen believes Dumont is the perfect person to bring this role to life. He sounds excited and energized to work with her on this project. Cohen said, “Emma is a renaissance woman. She’s a wonderful actress, a professional ballet dancer, and is currently getting her degree in Robotics Engineering. I have her training in Krav Maga and, believe me, there is nothing she can’t do.”
Producer Jeff Most echoed Cohen’s excitement and added, “Emma was born to play Razor. She is the embodiment of Everette Hartsoe’s comic character come to life. Emma naturally exudes the inner strength, acumen, athleticism, vulnerability, likability and street-wise intelligence that are the hallmarks of Razor. I couldn’t be more excited about finding the right actress in Emma to bring the character of Razor to life.”
In addition to her role in Razor, Dumont will be returning as Polaris for season 2 of The Gifted which returns to Fox this fall.
