This ‘Civil War’ Scene May Have Foreshadowed ‘Infinity War’

Theories were running wild as Marvel fans stepped into theaters this past May to watch the first installment of the two-part Avengers: Infinity War films. With Phase Three coming to an end and a lot of the original actor’s contracts coming to a close, it looked like death was imminent for some of Marvel’s beloved characters. So, when the closing moments of Infinity War began to unfold fans were shocked to watch nearly half of their favorite superheroes die at the snap of Thanos’s fingers, not just one or two.

Well, one savvy-eyed fan noticed a moment in 2016’s Captain America: Civil War that may have foreshadowed which characters lived and died. The image, which was originally shared on Instagram before taking off on Reddit, saw characters from Civil War sitting at a table being introduced to the Sokovia Accords. Upon further inspection though, they noticed that the characters on the left-hand side all survived Thanos’s snap while the ones on the right died. Then there’s Tony Stark’s Iron Man who is behind them in another part of the room, which could have shown that he would not be with them in Wakanda when it happened. Hawkeye is also not in the photo at all and he was surprisingly missing from Infinity War as well.

Since Civil War and Infinity War were both directed by the Russo Brothers, there’s certainly a possibility that this was an intentional seating choicebut the chances of it just being a coincidence seem more probable. When speaking with ComicBook.com Anthony Russo really dove into just how much thought was put into who would die.

“All of our choices are based on story. It’s based upon the road that these characters have traveled, in not only this movie, but throughout the entire MCU up to this point because, again, these movies are the culmination. So all we can say is that they are very focused story choices. That’s our motivation for everything.”

While it was most likely not an intentional choice it certainly is an interesting photo and a fun Easter egg for Marvel fans. Do you think that the Russo’s knew who they were killing in Infinity War while filming Civil War? Let us know! Avengers 4 will be hitting theaters July 2019 and hopefully, all will be resolved for the Avenger
