Jay Chandrasekhar Teases a Third ‘Super Troopers’ Film

After seventeen long years of waiting, the highly-anticipated sequel film Super Troopers 2 hit theaters earlier this year and the fans went wild for it! Thanks to the success of the sequel film, it’s looking like the film creators, the Broken Lizard gang, may be heading back to the big screen in the not so distant future with another follow-up film!

Super Troopers 2 had an excellent performance at the box office surpassing its projected earnings. The film is still garnering praise on social media from its fans and received favorable reviews from critics as well. So, a film that performs well, is a fan favorite and receives positive reviews make the perfect recipe for more films. For sure, that’s what the fans want and, as it turns out, that may just be what the fans get!

Throughout Super Troopers 2’s run in theaters, the guys of Broken Lizard have been teasing the possibility of more movies – perhaps another adventure featuring the Vermont-based troopers or maybe the film all fans are clamoring for, Potfest! On Friday, writer, director and film star Jay Chandrasekhar seemingly, officially announced that the team is working on a third Super Troopers film.

A fan casually tweeted that he had just seen the sequel film and loved it! He added in his tweet of praise, “Excellent work guys. If there is to be another sequel let’s hope we don’t have to wait another 17 years for it.”

As his luck would have it, Chandrasekhar replied and with four simple words, has fans freaking out! He responded by simply saying, “We’re writing the 3rd.”

The internet promptly responded with tweets of memes, freak out gifs and expressions of hope that the news is actually true, and from what we can see, it appears to be as Chandrasekhar extended his thanks to another fan who said the previous tweet totally made his day!

The first Super Troopers film was released in 2001 and was pure comedic gold starring the whole Broken Lizard gang including Erik Stolhanske, Steve Lemme, Jay Chandrasekhar, Paul Soter, and Kevin Heffernan as well as Brian Cox and Marisa Coughlan. The whole gang reunited for the sequel film which was funded by the fans through an Indiegogo.com fundraising campaign. We can’t wait to see what Broken Lizard comes up with for a third film!
