‘Chucky’ Creator Don Mancini Teases New ‘Child’s Play’ TV Series
Chucky is back, and this time, he wants to take over your television!
Earlier this year, Chucky creator Don Mancini spoke about his plans to continue the development and evolvement of the Child’s Play franchise. Next steps for everyone’s favorite Good Guy doll will be a television series which is in development from Mancini and franchise producer David Kirschner.
Rather than a reboot or a reimagining of the iconic character, the television series would be a continuation of where the latest Chucky film, Cult of Chucky, left off. Without giving anything away (because if you haven’t watched Cult of Chucky yet, you HAVE to see it. It’s amazing! Also, check out our interview with the cast from last year’s NYCC right HERE.), the film ends with the perfect set up for a brand new era of Child’s Play.
What exactly that crazy ending means for the upcoming series has yet to be revealed, however, Mancini describes the developing series as, “darker than ever before,” and, “very creepy.” As it turns out, Mancini may have just given us a sneak peek at what he has in store!
On Friday, Mancini posted a gif to his Twitter account without any further explanation. The gif first starts out as if it’s a distorted video image, kind of like a scrambled television channel. As the scrambled image flashes, a terrifying version of Chucky appears along with a title header which reads, “Child’s Play The TV Series. DO NOT ADJUST YOUR SET.”

The latest film in the franchise, Cult of Chucky is not just your typical slasher/horror film. It’s a film which clearly displays the continued evolvement and growth of Mancini (and Chucky). Mancini expertly combines horror with humor and beautifully poetic cinematography shots with old-school gore making this film an enjoyable ride for any fan of the franchise. We hope to see a similar level of excellence in the upcoming television series!
