It’s officially happening! The Conner family is back (again) on ABC! ABC has officially given a series order to a Roseanne reboot of the reboot without its controversial star.
Currently announced under a working title, The Conners will be heading straight to series with a 10-episode order set to premiere this fall. According to ABC’s press release, “after a sudden turn of events, the Conners are forced to face the daily struggles of life in Lanford in a way they never have before. This iconic family – Dan, Jackie, Darlene, Becky, and D.J. – grapples with parenthood, dating, an unexpected pregnancy, financial pressures, aging and in-laws in working-class America. Through it all, the fights, the coupon cutting, the hand-me-downs, the breakdowns – with love, humor, and perseverance, the family prevails.”
The series will star John Goodman (Dan), Laurie Metcalf (Jackie), Sara Gilbert (Darlene), Lecy Goranson (Becky), and Michael Fishman (D.J.) as their beloved characters from the original Roseanne series.
Last month, ABC President Channing Dungey announced that the hit comedy revival of Roseanne would be canceled after the series Roseanne Barr posted inappropriate remarks on Twitter. Barr will have no financial or creative involvement in the new series The Conners.
In a statement from ABC, the network said:
Additionally, the cast issued a joint statement expressing their optimism in moving forward with this new chapter for the Conner family. They said:
Tom Werner will executive produce, along with Sara Gilbert, Bruce Helford, Dave Caplan, Bruce Rasmussen and Tony Hernandez. Bruce Helford, Dave Caplan, and Bruce Rasmussen are also writers. The series is from Tom Werner and Werner Entertainment.
The Conners is set to air Tuesdays at 8 pm EST this fall!
